Built simultaneously with the church, the friary houses the Benedictine Abbey Museum. The single-storey square building is connected to the southern wall of the church, its wings encompassing a square inner court. Between 26-31 October 1921, the friary also gave a home to the last monarch of Hungary, King Charles IV and Queen Zita when they were interned to the premises of the abbey by the Entente Powers prior to being exiled to the Island of Madeira. Nowadays, a community of monks lives in the building again. The new exhibition room, which can be accessed through the church, is a place for temporary exhibitions.
